ULTRASOUND HEALTH - Timor
MRN has sent two Portable Ultrasounds to Timor-Leste
One to Sabeh clinic, an NGO and the other to a Bacau Clinic
which supports Veterans from the war between the Timorese
people and Indonesia (which led to Timor-Leste independence).
SABEH Clinic (Health for all people), is run
entirely by Timor-Leste doctors and nurses,
including a pharmacist, and public health
volunteers. They trek and travel to the most
remote areas of the country attending to
patients that live too far away for regular
visits to clinics or hospitals.
Ultrasounds are used intensively for all
stages of maternal health monitoring and
procedures as well as assisting to identify
cancer, tumors and other conditions.
We will be following the progress of these
two machines and the stories that will come
from them.
